2006 Cakebread Chardonnay

The Dyars headed up to stay with the Duttons for the weekend, and we decided to open up one of our Cakebread Chardonnay bottles to watch the Georgia game.  Well the game was painful to watch (we still love our Dawgs though) - the wine was excellent.

This Chardonnay had a crispness to it, as well as some tang - very unlike the more buttery/oak-intense chardonnays which seem to be more common.  I thoroughly enjoyed the green apple flavor and the smoothness of the wine.

The Cakebread Chardonnay’s aren’t an everyday drinking white wine at a price around $40, but for a special occasion white I highly recommend it.

I’m also quite proud that we said the above comments before reading the wine spectator review which also mentioned ‘clean and refreshing’, ‘zesty’ and ‘green apple’ - maybe we are getting good at this!
